THE TRACKS OF MY YEARS: DAVE ROWLAND'S TRANSPORT GALLERY
Whilst on holiday in Eire for the first time, I took the precaution of noting all the loco & coach numbers, just in case I got myself interested in Irish railways at a later date. I did, so can now declare that this is former 'A' class Sulzer 048, seen moving some wagons past the turntable at Cork Kent station, in the Summer of 1984.

Five 'A' class diesels in a row awit scrapping at Inchicore Works, headed by 040. On the adjacent line, 191 has been stripped of engines & buffers, and the pile of bricks underneath the near end indicates a sad lack of wheels. I believe this loco was, for some reason, withdrawn very prematurely. 21st March 1994.Previous | NextA few years later, I photographed 048 again, this time at Dublin Heuston. January 1991.
